Stepping through the doors of Cashel Palace, I immediately felt that quiet, unmistakable sense of occasion. The house itself is breathtaking — elegant without feeling intimidating, grand yet warm. A soft fire flickered in the sitting room, and there was that comforting hush that only truly beautiful spaces seem to hold. From the very first moment, it was clear that this was going to be a special afternoon.

We began, as one should, with champagne. Deutz Brut was poured with care into elegant stemware, served at the perfect temperature. It was crisp, light, and utterly delicious — the perfect start. Afternoon tea followed, and our servers, Alice and Sheriden, were wonderful from beginning to end: warm, attentive, and quietly elegant in the way they made everything seem effortless. The sandwiches were exceptional — delicate but full of flavour. We were encouraged to ask for seconds of any we particularly liked, which of course we did. The St Tola goat’s cheese in a beetroot basket was exquisite, and the Doonbeg crab on brioche was a standout. Every bite felt beautifully considered.

To accompany it all, we chose the Afternoon Tea Gold loose leaf tea, which was as smooth and elegant as its name suggests. We lingered over the pastries, each one a little work of art, perfectly balanced in flavour and texture. When we couldn’t finish them all, they were carefully wrapped for us in a beautiful box, along with miniature jars of jam — a thoughtful detail that made the whole experience feel personal and generous. 

After tea, we wandered back to the sitting room, where the fire was glowing and the atmosphere calm. Settling into the soft, generous couches felt like pressing pause on time itself.

It’s rare to find somewhere that feels so effortlessly special. Cashel Palace isn’t just beautiful — it’s welcoming, generous, and unforgettable. We left with full hearts, a box of pastries, and the very certain promise that we’ll be back.
